Michael L. Davis was born on September 1, 1948 in Logansport, Indiana. His parents were Herman and Eva (Bowland) Davis. He went to school in Francesville, Indiana until his junior year, when he moved to Kodiak, Alaska to live with his sister. His senior year of high school he returned to Francesville, where he graduated in 1966. In 1970, he graduated from Manchester College and was hired as a teacher in Wabash, Indiana. In 1971, he ran for the seat in the Wabash City-County Court as a judge. He was elected, and at the age of 22, became the one of the youngest judges in Indiana. After sitting as judge for a term, he ran for Mayor of Wabash and won. Davis was mayor from 1976-1980.

This collection contains one transcript of an Oral History of Michael L. Davis, interviewed by George Dingledy. Davis discusses growing up in Francesville, Indiana, living in Alaska, teaching in Wabash, becoming the Wabash City-Court Judge, and serving as Mayor of Wabash.
