Biographical Note:

Harland Osgatharp was from Otwell, IN (Pike County). Osgatharp served as a private in the medical corps of the U.S. Army during World War II, as well as worked in Civilian Conservation Corps camps in Oregon (1941 – 1942). Osgatharp was stationed at Camp Lee, Virginia (1942 – 1945), North Africa (1943), and Italy (1944 – 1945).

Scope and Content Note:

The collection consists of Osgatharp’s diaries during World War II from January 1942 to December 1945. The diaries describe Osgatharp’s work in Civilian Conservation Corps camps, his enlistment, training, service in military hospitals, and his return to Otwell, Indiana. Also included in the diaries are his reminiscences of service in World War 1. The collection also contains an undated address book.
