Gale Introduces InterLink
On April 30, Gale began offering their
users the most intuitive, connected research experience
available anywhere with new InterLink technology,
exclusively from Gale, part of Cengage Learning.
InterLink connect articles within InfoTrac to related
articles within GVRL holdings with document-level
hyperlinking.
InterLink results are automatically
highlighted within the articles in your search:
1. Search
in any Gale InfoTrac database or PowerSearch
2. Interlink
technology searches the library’s GVRL collection for
the most relevant, useful and needed results
3.
Click the links to expand and continue
your search amongst key, selected results related to
your original search
In this example, a search of “retirement
planning” was done in Academic OneFile. Search term
results are shown in red (as they always have been), and
InterLink results are shown in blue. The results will
only show the first time a corresponding, appropriate
result is found among the library’s GVRL holdings,
allowing library users to easily distinguish and review
the results.
Clicking on an InterLink displays the
list of relevant results from GVRL. Selecting an article
opens it in a new tab/window in the Gale Virtual
Reference Library environment.
Unlike traditional web search engines,
clicking on a link doesn’t take your research in a
completely new direction. Instead, InterLink allows you
to continue your search – both expanding and narrowing
your options – and keeping you within the accredited and
trusted resources of the library’s holdings.
