Biographical Note:

Joseph T. Barton was a farmer from western Virginia who eventually moved near Mier, Grant County, Indiana (1848 – 1889).

Scope and Content Note:

The collection contains family letters from Harveysburg, Ohio, Shenandoah County, Virginia, Parkersburg, (West) Virginia, Warren County, Indiana, and Mier, Indiana. Also included are business papers, receipts, and estate administration papers of Barton’s son, John T. Barton. The volumes consist of farm account books ranging from 1900 to 1927.
