Children wearing racing gear in toy cars for conference theme: "Giving kids the winning edge"

2019 Indiana GAL/CASA Conference

The 23rd Annual Indiana GAL/CASA Conference was recently held in French Lick, Indiana. The theme for the conference was "Giving Kids the Winning Edge."

As the 2019 conference keynote speaker, business owner, former NFL player, and author Shawn Harper shared an encouraging message about overcoming adversity and finding purpose. Breakout sessions offered throughout the day covered topics such as family preservation, understanding the science of the addicted brain, and advocating for children of incarcerated parents, LGTBQ+ youth, older youth, or the special needs foster child. To close the conference, intervention coordinator/author Herb Stepherson identified experiences from his own childhood that led him towards drugs and addiction. Now almost five years clean, he shared his story so that others will know there is hope for anyone battling the disease of addiction.

Save the Date!

The 24th Annual Indiana GAL/CASA Conference will be held in Fort Wayne, Indiana on September 26, 2020!
