Application Instructions

Deadline - Monday, September 21 at noon (Central time)

The Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission announces that the application for the January 1, 2021 vacancy on the Lake Superior Court, Criminal Division, Room 2 is available below. Please direct any questions about the application process to lakejnc@courts.in.gov.

Submitting Completed Application

Candidates should prepare their application materials to be submitted electronically through the Indiana Courts Portal using the "Upload a document" feature. If you are not sure how to sign in, see the help topic on signing in or creating an account.

Please sign into the portal well in advance of submitting your application in case you need assistance with your login or password. Do not wait until the final submission day to sign into the portal.

To apply for the position, you should submit five files through the Indiana Courts Portal. Files must not exceed 15mb in size.

Sign into the Indiana Courts Portal at portal.courts.in.gov. From the dashboard, in the section labeled "My Tools & Settings" click "Upload a document."

1 - Cover Letter, Resume and Professional Biography
  • Professional biography should not exceed 500 words.
  • Combine into a single PDF file.
  • From the Secure Document Uploader, select the document type "Lake Criminal 2 - JNC - Cover Letter, Resume, and Professional Biography"
2 - Application for Lake Superior Court
  • Answer all questions, responding "None" or "Not Applicable" where appropriate. Convert your completed application into a PDF file.
  • From the Secure Document Uploader, select the document type "Lake Criminal 2 - JNC - Application"
3 - Statement of Economic Interest
  • Answer all questions, responding "None" or "Not Applicable" where appropriate. The Statement of Economic Interest may require additional pages. Combine the completed form and additional pages into a single PDF file.
  • From the Secure Document Uploader, select the document type "Lake Criminal 2 - JNC - Statement of Economic Interest"
4 - Current Photograph
  • Upload a digital photograph, in JPG format, with a resolution of at least 300dpi.
  • From the Secure Document Uploader, select the document type "Lake Criminal 2 - JNC - Photo"
5 - Supplemental Materials (outlined in the Application Checklist)
  • Sequence and combine additional materials to submit with your application into a single PDF file. If the file exceeds 15mb, try compressing it or splitting into multiple parts.
  • From the Secure Document Uploader, select the document type "Lake Criminal 2 - JNC - Supplemental Materials"

Letters of Recommendation

The Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission will consider no more than five letters of recommendation on behalf of each applicant. Letters of recommendation may be sent to lakejnc@courts.in.gov. Letters of recommendation must be received by Monday, September 21 at noon (Central time).
