Learn and Earn!
Are you ready for a career change or advancement in the field of nursing?
The Indiana Veterans' Home proudly offers both Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) classes at various times throughout the year.
IVH is one of four sites in Tippecanoe County approved to offer Nurse Assistant Training and Testing (NAT) by the Indiana State Department of Health and one of three local sites approved to offer QMAT training.
CNAs and QMAs are the front-line staff that interact with and provide the highest quality of care to our residents. Nurse aides are the critical link between residents, nurses, and health care providers. Beyond helping with activities of daily living, nurse aides gather vitals signs and other important health information to support each resident's needs on a daily basis while providing essential information and documentation to the nursing staff and health care providers. IVH takes great pride in providing the highest level of service to our veteran residents and their spouses and our nurse aides make all the difference in maintaining those standards.
To work as a CNA or QMA in the State of Indiana, individuals must complete federally-required training, pass the Indiana competency exam, meet all other requirements, and be registered with the ISDH Certified Nurse Aid Registration Program. IVH offers full coursework for both CNA and QMA trainings on-site at various times through the year. Class partipants are instructed by IVH's team of qualified nurse supervisors through both the in-class and clinical training portions over a span of 4-8 weeks.
Best of all? You get paid while you learn. IVH covers the cost of both classes and testing fees, and students also earn an hourly wage throughout the training!
