The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC or Commission) conducted an Investigative Inquiry on Energy Affordability concerning the five largest electric investor-owned utilities on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, which took place from 9:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (ET) in the IURC Courtroom 222 of the PNC Center, 101 W. Washington St. in Indianapolis. During the inquiry, representatives with AES Indiana, CenterPoint Energy Indiana, Duke Energy Indiana, LLC, Indiana Michigan Power Company, and Northern Indiana Public Service Company, LLC made presentations and answered questions from the Commission and the Indiana Office of Consumer Counselor (OUCC) on topics related to energy affordability, including how usage and rates lead to bills, the impact of growth on affordability, and steps that can be taken in the short term to increase bill transparency and address rising energy costs.

While public comments were accepted during the inquiry, members of the public were encouraged to watch the inquiry via the livestream link on YouTube. To view the recording, click here.
