SERVICE AREA EXTENDED FOR BLUFFTON’S ELECTRIC UTILITY

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission has approved a settlement agreement between the City of Bluffton and AEP, which provides for the expansion of the boundaries of Bluffton’s municipally owned electric utility.

Under the provisions of Cause No. 42265, an annexed portion of Wells County will be served by the city instead of American Electric Power. The annexed area is in Lancaster Township, north of the Northwood Farm subdivision.   The area includes 8 residential customers, 1 church, 1 dog rooming and grooming business and Lancaster Central School.

The Commission finds that the city of Bluffton has adequate facilities to provide electric service to the annexed area, and it is in the public interest. As part of the settlement, the city of Bluffton will pay AEP $125,226.62.

The order is effective immediately.
