Immediate Jeopardy

Immediate Jeopardy

Immediate jeopardy is a situation in which the nursing home's non-compliance with one or more requirements has caused, or is likely to cause, serious injury, harm, impairment, or death to a resident. In these situations, the Division initiates an enforcement action and requires that the home take immediate steps to remove the jeopardy. If the nursing home does not remove the jeopardy within the time frame specified by the Division, it is terminated from the Medicare and/or Medicaid programs within 23 days of the end date of the survey.
