STDS surge for the fifth straight year, reaching an all-time high in 2018.

In 2016, the number of cases and rates of chlamydia reported in Indiana and the United states reached historic highs.

The growing number of gonorrhea cases in the state and nationwide is a significant public health concern. Rates and case counts are approaching levels not seen since the early 1990s.

Once slated for elimination in the United States, syphilis cases, particularly the highly infectious primary and secondary stages, are rising. In Indiana, an outbreak of syphilis between 1999 and 2000 was followed by a steep drop in cases. More recently, primary and secondary cases are increasing in the state.
