Rural Health Clinic Certification Program
Welcome to the homepage for the Indiana State Department of Health Rural Health Clinic Certification Program. The Indiana State Department of Health monitors rural health clinics for quality for all citizens in need of these clinic services. The rural health clinics that are certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for reimbursement are the clinics found in a rural underserved area of the state and meet the criteria for a shortage area. The rural health clinics must employ a midwife or nurse practitioner or physician assistant 50% of the clinic’s operational hours. The Indiana State Department of Health inspects rural health clinics on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
