The Wayne County Soil & Water Conservation District is quite pleased with the success of our Tox-A-Way Day event that was held on October 29, 2016. Such a success would not have been possible without the partnership of the Wayne County Soil & Water Conservation District, Union County Soil & Water Conservation District, Georgia-Pacific Foundation, Color Box, WUR SWMD, Whitewater River Initiative and Wayne County Foundation and the use of the facilities of Richmond Sanitary District.
This event serviced a total of 66 vehicles; 47 were Wayne County residents, 9 Union County residents and 10 Richmond residents. Items collected on that day; four containers of unknown materials, 1/2 bucket of batteries, three barrels of oil based material and three barrels of aerosol cans and 1/2 truck load of oil.
None of this would have been possible if it wasn't for our faithful volunteers, we had an army of 30 for this event! We were able to keep them all safe and fueled by extended support of area businesses with donations of a wide array of food, drinks and gloves.
