The Washington County Soil & Water Conservation District, along with the United States Department of Agriculture-Natural Resource Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS), Purdue Extension, Indiana State Department of Agriculture and the Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative (CCSI), and the Mill Creek-Blue River Watershed Project host the Annual Southern Indiana Regional Soil Health Workshop. Sponsors for this event include adjoining SWCDs, local Farm Bureau Inc. and Ag Suppliers. This day long workshop focuses on soil health management practices and helps to promote Indiana’s Soil Health Initiative in Washington County. Every year the committee seeks topics to provide a well-rounded look at soil health. State and national speakers are sought out to present information on these topics. This workshop targets producers in Washington, Orange, Crawford, Harrison, Floyd, Clark, Scott, Jackson and Lawrence counties. Attendance for this event is close to 100 participants each year.
