The Switzerland County SWCD hosts a 4th grade Ag. Day and a 5th grade Forestry Day each year for the students at both elementary schools in the county. Each program is held at the fairgrounds and the District is assisted by Purdue Extension and the Switzerland County Homemakers. These programs have become a highlight of the year for both students and teachers. The students are learning the importance of Agriculture and Conservation at a number of stations throughout the day and are provided a healthy lunch fixed and served by the Homemaker Club. To end the day the students are visited by Snake Head Ed and the DNR Birds of Prey. The students love being able to interact with the animals while learning about their habitats.
