COVER CROPS; A FARMERS PERSPECTIVE was the theme of the Parke/Vermillion SWCD Field Day held on August 17, 2017 on a farm near Cayuga. Cover Crop plots of single variety and mixes, a soil pit and then a Crimper demonstration using the Jasper County SWCD Crimper followed the presentations by Mark Anson, Dan Perkins (aka The Cover Crop Guy) and Justin Schneider of Indiana Farm Bureau. The next day we held a Women4theLand Workshop at the Vermillion County Fairgrounds and then took the ladies to the same farm to view the soil pit and cover crop plots. These workshops were made possible by our Clean Water Indiana Grant which enables us to hire Carter Morgan as our Conservation Technician. Attendees at these events have continued to be interested in the practices and have even used the Crimper that Vermillion County purchased in 2017.
