The Morgan County SWCD specializes in offering environmental education to schools, organizations, civic clubs and residents/land owners. All of our programs attempt to increase awareness of natural resources and ecosystems while encouraging lifelong stewardship of our environment. Due to the condition of the current truck and in order to be more effective, it became evident that a new vehicle would be beneficial.
To pay for this vehicle, our staff worked with various community organizations and businesses to solicit funds. We pooled the money from the groups with funds the county was willing to contribute. In 2012, we purchased our new Transit van and put a colorful wrap on it showcasing the environmental education we offer. All of this was done with outside funding.
The purchase of our van was completed through the networking with our community to acquire the majority of the funding. We deeply appreciated the demonstrated support of our mission by the community organizations and businesses. We now use the vehicle each day to provide education to over 10,300 youth and adults each year and are proud to have been invited to every elementary school in Morgan County in 2012!
