In Sept 2013 the Koscisuko County SWCD along with the CCSI team, held a cover crop field day at JA Scott Farms. This field day was open for anyone wanting to learn about planning for using cover crops. Participants learned about the many different cover crops that are available, including single species and cocktail mixes. On the JA Scott Farms, there were over 30 different cover crop plots to look at. There was a soil pit dug for folks to see how the effects of the cover crop and no till system were having on the soil health and organisms found in the soil. There was also an open decision about how cover crops were being used all over the US and Canada. This event was open to the public and more than 120 people from around Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and Missouri were there to learn the importance of a systems approach to conservation farming.
