It is the mission of the Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation District to provide leadership and assistance in the proper use and management of soil, water, and related natural resources in Jasper County.

Each year the district holds multiple cover crop soil pits.  In 2012 a soil pit was held on a farmer's land that is brand new to cover crops.  He decided to give them a try since it was so dry and he couldn't get any crops in one field.  It was a learning experience for the farmer and the district.  We had approximately 20 people join us for a tour around the county covering multiple soil pits in various soil types and farm management situations.

The Jasper County SWCD started back in the classroom in 2012.  Kindergarten thru second grade students were taught at a series of after school programs covering topics on wildlife and habitat.  The program continued in 2013.
