Clean Water Indiana Cover Crop Cost Share ($7,000) The SWCD received a CWI grant for the third year in a row to encourage the use of cover crops by offering cost-share. Ten farmers participated, planting approximately 450 acres in various cover crops this fall, including annual rye grass, tillage radishes, clover, Austrian pea, wheat and oats. In addition to the cost share program, the SWCD partnered with Morgan Co. SWCD to hold a series of summer workshops. The first was held in June. The speaker was Dr. Hans Kok with the Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative. The subject was Cropping Systems. The second was held in July. The speaker was Ray Archuleta, Conservation Agronomist with NRCS, and the subject was Healthy Soils. The third workshop was in August. The speaker was Barry Fisher, State Agronomist with NRCS, and the topic was Cover Crops.

Danville Community School Corporation Project H.A.W.K. Outdoor Lab The SWCD purchased resource books to be used with the outdoor lab for the school libraries.

Conservation Field Day Sponsored with Boone County and Putnam County SWCDs, the field day was held August 17 in Boone County.This annual workshop rotates between Boone and Hendricks County.

With the Hendricks County Partnership for Water Quality, the SWCD had a booth at the Master Gardeners’ garden show, participated in a county-wide clean-up and Earth Day Festival in April , educated St. Malachy students at a water quality field day in May, and had a booth and gave rain garden presentations at the county fair in July. The Partnership includes Hendricks County, the Towns of Avon, Brownsburg, Danville, Pittsboro, and Plainfield, the Solid Waste Management District, and the SWCD.
