Water Resource is Focus of Conservation Education
The Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District employees a variety of different methods and topics to reach landowners about the value of water resource conservation. The general public was able to view displays at the court house and the 4-H Fair. Workshops were held to provide information about drought resistant landscaping and well management. Farmers attended a field day for planting cover crops.– a new tool to improve soil health, decrease release of valuable nutrients and reduce soil erosion. Through the continuing education program realtors elected to learn more about water resources. We discussed wetlands, floodplains, soils, water quality and water management. The SWCD was also able to inspire conservation leaders from across America at a soil health demonstration at the Rulon Farm. The Hamilton County SWCD makes the effort to inform the decision makers.
