The Daviess, Dubois and Pike County SWCD sponsored a Pasture Walk on Eldon Coon's Farm, a small cow/calf operation on reclaimed strip mined ground with a lot of challenges, on Thursday, September 15.  This pasture walk was not a structured meeting, but more of a way to get together and discuss problems and opportunities facing each participant.  Walking through the pasture is a means to spark conservation.  A good turn out were on hand to share in a lot of good discussion.

19 Daviess County producers participated in the aerial cover crop cost share program, a total of 1,209 acres were seeded through the program partly funded with Clean Water Indiana Funds and the Daviess County SWCD.

Daviess County SWCD hosted a Livestock Producer Information meeting on November 22.  The meeting had 65 producers in attendance for the morning and early afternoon session, with 91 producers taking advantage of the opportunity to take the Category 14 certification during the last session.

On February 2, 2011 Daviess County SWCD hosted the 2nd Southern Indiana Grazing Conference (SIGC) this meeting was at the Simon J Graber Community Facility in Odon Indiana.  the conference is organized by a committee of conservation partnership personnel from southern Indiana.  We were pleased to have twenty three vendors register for the year exhibiting some of the latest technology in grazing and forage products and services.  The meeting was well attended in spite of the adverse weather affecting several throughout the state as they were under a state of emergency due to an unexpected ice storm.  We had 285 registrations for the event.  Funds from Clean Water Indiana were used toward speaker fees, allowing SIGC to have top notch speakers.
