Clay County Soil & Water Conservation District continued to sponsor the Tree Seedling Giveaway in 2015.  There were additional 1,405 trees of various varieties which included Flowering Dogwood, Redbud, Tulip Poplar and White Pine planted in Clay County.  There were 151 Clay County residents that participated in this program in 2015.  The residents of Clay County comment that they really enjoy this program.  They express interest in what types of trees will be brought to Clay County for the next year.  This program also helps them to learn of different tree species, identification and general education.  Many are surprised that a twig in the spring can grow 6-8 inches by fall and be full of leaves that even change colors with the seasons.
