Browns Wonder – Sugar Creek Watershed
The Boone and Clinton County Soil and Water Conservation Districts were awarded a Clean Water Indiana Grant to provide additional technical assistance within Brown’s Wonder-Sugar Creek Watershed.  Agricultural Watershed Specialist, Michelle Gilbert was hired to identify resource concerns, develop conservation plans, and facilitate the application of best management practices that reduce sediment and nutrients within the targeted watershed.

Additional Lake and River Enhancement funding has also been awarded for assistance with the installation of conservation practices that primarily reduce or trap sediment and nutrients.  Examples of acceptable practices for LARE funding are cover crops, nutrient management and erosion control structures.

The Boone County Soil and Water Conservation District submitted a grant proposal in January 2014 for another round of funding through the LARE program to continue implementing best management practices within the Sugar Creek Watershed.
