Power upgrade to IGCS North
Beginning on Friday, Nov. 8 at 5:00 p.m. through Monday, Nov. 11 at 5:00 p.m. the Department of Administration (IDOA) and the Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) will be conducting upgrades to the power system in the Indiana Government Center – North building. During the upgrade, the North building will not have any power. The IOT data center is going to operate on generators and there should not be any service interruption. Additionally, the IOT Customer Support Center will still have operations in the south building during the outage.
Extensive testing on the data center generators has been completed, so IOT does not believe there will be any power interruption to those operations.
Key points:
- Power will be out from approximately 5:00 p.m. Nov. 8 through 5:00 p.m. Nov. 11.
- Users in the north building must power off computers before leaving on Friday, Nov. 8.
Below are the four step instructions on how to power off your machines.
1. Save and close all work items – e.x. Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
2. Select the Windows icon in the lower left of your screen
3. Select the Power Button
4. Select Shut down.

Vote securely in Indiana
The security of our election systems in Indiana is important. In partnership with counties, other states, and the federal government, Indiana is continuously developing new answers to security concerns and election policy. Some of the tools and precautions being taken in Indiana to ensure secure voting include:
- Voting System Technical Oversight Program — testing all election equipment in Indiana for safety and security.
- Election Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center (EI-ISAC) — allows Indiana access to 24/7 security information, threat notification and security advisories.
- U.S. Department of Homeland Security — tests the state election systems.
- Multifactor Authentication Protocol for County Election Offices — implementing validation requirements to ensure only authorized users can access the system.
- Intrusion Detection Systems — These systems monitor internet traffic accessing websites and databases.
- Security Protocol — State law establishes physical security standards for election equipment. Many county election boards adopt customized security resolutions above and beyond what is required by law.
Furthermore, voting machines and tabulators are not connected to the internet. According to the Indiana Secretary of State’s office, Indiana is fully committed to ensuring that we continue to move forward, using every tool at our disposal to maintain safe and secure voting for all Hoosiers.

IN.gov Search promotes features for better user experience
IN.gov offered a training session on its search tool, Funnelback to help users better understand the product. All IN.gov managed sites utilize this search for their default site search. With Funnelback there are a number of search features including custom design and keyword highlighting, and dashboard features including analytics and optimization tools.
State employees were able to attend this important training session to learn more about everything Funnelback offers.

Cybersecurity Career Fair
The Indiana Information Sharing and Analysis Center (IN-ISAC), hosted its third annual cybersecurity career fair on October 31. Participants were able to learn about the businesses that are hiring in the industry.
Attendance: There were 38 vendors that attended the event and more than 200 potential candidates were able to talk to hiring managers.
“There is such a demand in the cybersecurity field,” Indiana’s Chief Information Officer Dewand Neely said. “We always hope candidates get internships and jobs in this field to help build a great network for future opportunities.”
Fun fact: There were some vendors who hired people from this event last year brought them to recruit at the event this year!
Indiana selected for 5th National Guard cyber battalion
Gov. Holcomb recently announced Indiana will be the home to the country’s newest National Guard cyber battalion, the first in the Midwest.
The 127th Cyber Protection Battalion will be made up of nearly 100 soldiers focused on cybersecurity and cyber warfare.
The soldiers will have access to the U.S. Department of Defense’s only live, full-scale cyber range at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center in Jennings County. The center is unique with its realistic simulations with live environments for cyber and electronic warfare testing and training.
Indiana is also home to one of the nation’s premier Defense Department laboratories, the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Martin County, with experts in cyber security and hardware assurance.
The Hoosier battalion will serve under the Army National Guard's 91st Cyber Brigade, established in Virginia in 2016. It also has two battalions based in Virginia and one each in South Carolina and Massachusetts.
