Vaccine Clinics

The best protection against the flu is to get a flu shot every year before the flu season starts. Since influenza viruses change over time, it is important to get a shot every year. Each year the vaccine is remade to include the types of flu virus expected to cause illness during that flu season. The vaccine begins to protect you within a few days after vaccination, but the vaccine is not fully effective until about 14 days after vaccination. Read more about flu shots from Anthem.

Vaccine clinics will be held at many state facilities across Indiana. The flu vaccine will be available at these clinics and can be administered at the same time. Additional vaccines may be available, including Flu, High Dose Flu, Covid (Pfizer only), Tdap, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Pneumonia (Prevnar 20), Shingles, RSV, Polio, HPV, Meningitis, Men B, Varicella (Chicken Pox), MMR.

Register for an upcoming vaccine clinic

Employees are encouraged to register in advance at https://patients.vaxcare.com/registration to receive their vaccinations during an on-site clinic. While walk-ins may be accepted, they cannot be guaranteed due to safety protocols in place, availability of vaccines, and staffing. Registering in advance ensures that there will be enough of each vaccine for each person attending.

The on-site vaccination clinics are available to state employees and dependents. Routine vaccines are available for anyone 3 years and over, and the COVID vaccine is available for those 5 years and over. Contractors working for the state can also be vaccinated at these clinics if they use their own insurance. Employees using a state insurance plan will have no cost for the vaccines. While most insurance plans cover vaccines, individuals utilizing non-state insurance plans are encouraged to check coverage with their insurer in advance. Please bring your employee badge and insurance ID card.

As part of the wellness rewards program, eligible employees can earn $25 per vaccine, up to $100. Note: To earn the wellness reward incentive, you must provide insurance information when registering and must be billed through insurance. Full details can be found in the ActiveHealth Rewards Center: myactivehealth.com/stateofindiana.

If you are wondering if you should NOT get a vaccine, a detailed list can be found at www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/should-not-vacc.html.
