If you still have an active INPRS defined contribution (DC) account, you have the option to keep it with INPRS, roll it over, withdraw it, or annuitize all or a portion of your balance.

To initiate a request for a distribution, you can log in to your INPRS online account. You may also call (844) GO-INPRS to begin a distribution request with a member advocate.

Retiree Millie Adams has (nearly) done it all

Mildred Jamison Adams, also known as Millie, was born on June 17, 1929, in Gary, Indiana. In 1950 she married the love of her life John S. Adams, better known as Big John. Together they had three children: Steven, Michael, and Paula. She is the proud grandmother of Erika, Anthya, and Adam and great grandmother to Alynn, Gabriella, Syieed, Grayson, and Shilo to date.

Throughout Millie’s lifetime, she served the State of Indiana and the City of Gary as a Commissioner on the Status of Women; was a Charter member of Christ Baptist Church; a member of Gary Business & Professional Women’s Club; and The Drifters. Millie was also active in the civil rights movement of 1947 and built a successful World Book empire with her husband.

Education has always been dear to Millie’s heart. After graduating from Indiana University Northwest, she spread her knowledge in the Gary community. Millie spent over 50 years with Gary Community Schools; 30 years as an educational secretary, and 22 years as a substitute teacher until the age of 85. Millie’s passionate desire to help her community didn’t end there.
When Millie retired from the Gary Community School Corporation, she sold her home and moved to Arkansas to follow her retirement dream. There, she stays active in her retirement by working as a watch care member of Eighth Street Baptist Church and babysitting for her great-grandkids. Millie recently was able to attend a lecture with honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg before her passing. Like Ruth, Millie Adams’s career in public service is a shining example of being generous with your talents, even into retirement age.
