Hose Reel for Water Truck

This INDOT innovation introduces a hose reel system that significantly improves the safety and efficiency of bridge‑cleaning operations.
Traditionally, crews had to drag hundreds of feet of hose over bridge walls and manually pull it back up to the truck, a process that was physically demanding, time‑consuming, and increased the risk of injuries. The new hose reel attaches directly to the water truck, allowing crews to easily deploy and retract the hose without excessive lifting or dragging.
This upgrade helps prevent hose damage, reduces strain on employees, and streamlines transport and storage. By simplifying the workflow and minimizing the need for workers to navigate challenging bridge surfaces, the hose reel enhances overall safety and supports more efficient maintenance operations across the district.
