INDOT Contract B-41155 Des. No. 1702735 Rehabilitation of Wells County Bridge No. 106, carrying CR 100 N over Rock Creek, 0.5 miles west of CR 400 W in Wells County This project involves rehabilitation of the existing bridge carrying CR 100 N over Rock Creek near Rockford, IN. The existing structure is a two-span (approx. 43’-9” each) reinforced concrete arch bridge under fill, 87-6” in length. The typical roadway section at the bridge will consist of a single 12’-0” travel lane and 2’-11” shoulders on both sides of the roadway. The clear roadway width of the bridge is 17’-10”. The out-to-out width is 20’-6”. These geometrics will remain the same after the project is complete. The project will include removal and replacement of the earth fill over the bridge, installation of a waterproofing membrane, cathodic protection to slow corrosion of the reinforcing steel, and construction of a new concrete bridge deck. The bridge rails, curbs, spandrel walls, and outer portions of the arch barrels will be removed and replaced due to deterioration. Remaining portions of the existing arch will be patched and repaired as needed. The proposed rehabilitation work will match the aesthetic details of the existing bridge as closely as possible. The height of the bridge rail will increase to more closely match current INDOT standards. Concrete approach slabs will be constructed at both ends of the bridge. Guardrail will be installed in all four corners. Approximately 100 ft. of roadway off each end of the bridge will be repaved. A portion of the channel will be excavated to increase the waterway opening and hydraulic capacity of the bridge.
The bridge and roadway construction work will require full road closure and detour of traffic. The estimated cost of this project is $1,300,000.
