Seasonal Workers Hiring Event

Looking for seasonal employment this upcoming winter? Does a $250 sign-on and $500 retention bonus sound good to you?

The Indiana Department of Transportation is hosting a state wide hiring event for seasonal employment Thursday, October 17, 2019. The event will take place at multiple locations around the state from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. local time. A list of event locations can be found below.

About Winter Seasonal Positions

This position is responsible for performing general highway maintenance duties that keep INDOT assets in good working condition to ensure customer satisfaction.  Winter Seasonal workers perform snow and ice removal and related maintenance duties by operation of snow plow and other winter operations duties as required. Traffic maintenance duties such as repairing and installing traffic signs and pavement markings are also required job duties for this position.  A CDL is required for this position.

Work is performed outside exposed to inclement weather, ongoing traffic, and rotating work shifts.  May be on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. May be exposed to unpleasant surroundings including; dead animals, ditches with sewage, loud noise, confined work spaces, double shifts for snow and ice removal, dirt, dust, pollen, and insects/bugs.

  • Hourly Rate:  $16.00 (reporting daily, 37.5 hours per week plus snow events)
  • Winter Seasonal positions are not eligible for Holiday Pay, Leave Pay or State Benefits, including unemployment.
  • Winter Seasonal positions work from:  November 4, 2019 to March 27, 2020
  • Open positions throughout the state: 100+

What You'll Need

  • Current Driver's License PLUS another form of identification
  • CDL License

  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Copy of High School Diploma/GED (preferred, but not required)
