Why is the IBO hosting listening sessions?

As part of the BEAD program, Indiana is writing its Initial Proposal to submit to the federal government. This proposal includes information about how Indiana will identify all the addresses that need service and exactly how these funds will be deployed across the state through subgrants to internet service providers. The Indiana Broadband Office is hosting listening sessions because local feedback is critical to this process. These sessions will be used to review the Initial Proposal with the public and take comments, feedback, and questions from participants.

What is BEAD?

The Broadband, Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program is a federally funded project with the goal of connecting all unserved and underserved locations in the United States to high-speed, reliable, affordable broadband. Indiana received $868M from the BEAD program and will use these funds for significant broadband infrastructure deployment.
