Apply Now - Follow these step-by-step instructions
The step-by-step instructions below will guide you through the Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) application process. If you are eligible for FTA, you must apply for it in order to receive the National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG).
- Step 1: Watch the Video
Watch the ArmyIgnitED 101 video:
- Step 2: Upload Message to ArmyIgnitED
Log in to the ArmyIgnitED Portal using your CAC, and create a message stating: "I have completed the ArmyIgnitED 101 training on [include the date]."
- Step 3: Complete a Decision Support Tool
Complete one of the Decision Support Tools below:
Once complete, download your goal report, click on "Create New Plan" below (ArmyIgnitED) and upload the goal report.
- Step 4: Sign Virtual Benefits Training
Sign the "ARNG VBT (19 March 2026)" virtual benefits training.
- Step 5: Submit Military Transcripts
Go to the JST website to:
- Submit your military transcripts to your school advisor for review
- Conduct an audit of any military experience that counts toward your degree
- Step 7: Input Supervisor Information
Input your immediate supervisor's information.
- First and last name
- Phone number
- Primary and secondary email address

- Step 8: A-D - Create, Sign, Download, Submit TAR
Create a Federal Tuition Assistance Request (TAR) by clicking the "Apply for Funding" button below.
- Step 9: Apply for NGSG to Get Up to 100% Tuition at State-Funded Institutions

Upload your Degree Plan/Audit/Map, and create an Education Goal. Ensure your degree plan from your academic institution includes:
- Your name
- Student ID number
- Academic institution name
- Completed/transferred courses
- Courses still required
