Credentialing Assistance (CA) Close-Out Information
- Soldiers can submit FY26 CA requests until Aug. 6, 2026 at 8 p.m. for courses or exams with start dates up to Sept. 20, 2026.
- Soldiers will not be able to submit FY26 CA requests for start dates from Sept. 21-30 2026.
- Soldiers may submit FY27 CA requests beginning Sept. 14, 2026 for courses or exams that start on or after Oct. 29, 2026.
- As a reminder, Soldiers must submit CA requests at least 45 days prior to the start date of the course or exam but not more than 90 days before the course start date.
Apply Now - Follow these step-by-step instructions
The Credentialing Assistance Request (CAR) funds non-degree related or MOS-related professional certifications/licenses. Follow the steps below to create and submit your CAR to pay for training, books and exam fees for civilian credentials related to your personal goals or Miliary Occupational Specialty (MOS). - Step 1: Contact a CA Counselor to Request CA 101 Training
Use Army Credentialing Opportunities Online (COOL) or ArmyIgnitED to to contact a CA Counselor to request the CA101 Training.
- Step 2: Complete Virtual Benefits Training
In ArmyIgnitED, find the "Education Programs" section and complete the Virtual Benefits Training.
- Step 3: Research and Select a Credential
Use Army Credentialing Opportunities Online (COOL) or Army MilGears on ArmyIgnitED to explore and select a credential that aligns with your goals.
- Step 4: Obtain a Quote From an Approved Vendor and Upload into ArmyIgnitED
The Approved Vendor Quote must include the following:
- Your name
- Full credential title
- Course/exam dates
- Detailed cost breakdown
- Step 5: Create a "Credential" Educational Goal
- Log into ArmyIgnitED
- Create an Educational Goal for your chosen credential
- Upload the official vendor quote to your profile
- Step 6: Ensure Supervisor Approval
Your supervisor has 5 days to approve your CAR request.
Ensure that:- Supervisor information is correct
- Your supervisor has CAC access
- Your supervisor is aware of your pending tuition assistance request
- Step 7: Submit Credentialing Assistance Request (CAR)
You must submit your CAR between 90 to 45 days before the start date.
If you are within the submission window, log in to ArmyIgnitED and submit your request.
- Step 8: Provide Approved CAR to Your Vendor
Once the CAR is fully approved in ArmyIgnitED, provide the signed document to your vendor to finalize your registration and payment.
- Post-Registration: Complete and Upload Training/Exam Documents
- Complete your training/exam as scheduled.
- Upload your completion documents (certificate, score report, etc.) to ArmyIgnitED within 30 days of course or exam completion.

Certificate programs at Ivy Tech, Vincennes or other Commission for Higher Education (CHE) -approved providers may qualify
Costs the NGSG will cover:
Tuition and mandatory fees: Consumable fees and certification exams must be charged through the university and should not exceed the total cost of tuition for the term.
Other requirements:
- Students must submit the NGSG application through ScholarTrack
- Students must be eligible to receive state financial aid – possessing state financial aid eligibility units.
- Students must file the FAFSA and have no present edits restricting them from receiving the NGSG.
- Students can enroll part-time or full-time.
- Remain in good standing with the Indiana National Guard.
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Performance with the institution where NGSG is being utilized.
- As many INNG Service Members attend civilian training in part-time status, applicants will have one year per 15 Credit Hours to complete their certificate program, e.g. a 30 credit hour program must be completed in two years.
