Shane Springer is Director of Government & Legislative Affairs for the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD). In this role, he coordinates all legislative initiatives and legislator inquiries on behalf of the agency. DWD is tasked with administering the state’s unemployment insurance (UI) trust fund, while also developing a premier workforce that will allow Indiana employers to flourish and entice businesses from outside our state to relocate to Indiana.
Prior to joining DWD, Shane worked in a number of legislative capacities including positions in both the Indiana State Senate as well as the Indiana House of Representatives. Most recently, Shane served as State Director for the Indiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC). As director of PTAC, Shane oversaw a team of small business professionals working to bolster Indiana’s economy through the procurement of federal, state and local government contracts. During his tenure as State Director, Shane and his team worked with more than 900 small business procurements of more than $50M.
Shane served in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He holds a master’s degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University and serves as President of the Board for the National Defense Industrial Association – Greater Indiana.
