Kerry Steiner named Executive Director of INAIAC
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC) announced today the hiring of Kerry Steiner as the Executive Director of the Indiana Native American / Indian Affairs Commission (INAIAC). As the Executive Director of INAIAC, Steiner is responsible for researching challenges and developing solutions to issues affecting the Native community in Indiana. Steiner began her duties on March 2, 2015.
Kerry is a former U.S. Army Journalist who has served as a volunteer at The American Indian Center of Indiana since 2008. At the American Indian Center she manages the website and social media outlets (Facebook and Twitter), and is the Editor of both the monthly e-newsletter and quarterly print publications. It is both her hope and her goal that these communication channels will unify the Indigenous community of Indiana. In addition, Kerry is a professional genealogist and a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists.
The Indiana Native American Indian Affairs Commission studies and makes recommendations to appropriate federal, state and local governmental agencies in areas of concern to our state's native and nonnative people and communities. The ultimate objectives are to bring the native communities together, help identify and provide opportunities to the Native American community, and enhance social, cultural, community and economic development in Indiana.
