Landlord Information

  1. You can list your property online for free at https://www.affordablehousing.com/list-your-property/ or IndianaHousingNow.org and indicate that you are open to accepting tenants that hold Section 8 vouchers.
  2. Here’s a brief rundown of what you can expect if you decide to rent to a Section 8 voucher holder:
    • The family will provide you with a copy of their voucher and a Request for Tenancy Approval (RTA).
    • You will need to complete the RTA, and the tenant will return that to their case manager.
    • If the unit is determined to be rent reasonable, the case manager will schedule an inspection of the unit.
    • If the unit passes inspection, you will need to provide your W9 and proof of ownership to the case manager.

PLEASE NOTE:  Although families are screened for criminal history as part of the program eligibility process, the landlord/owner is responsible for their normal background and credit checks.

  3. What is the payment standard for IHCDA?

Payment standards vary by county and, in some areas, by zip code.

IHCDA’s payment standard is 110% of HUD’s Small Area Fair Market Rent (FMR) values.  Click here for HUD’s Small Area Fair Market Rents.
