Officer Posts Descriptions

Each facility has varying posts. Below are examples of what posts may be available.

Housing Unit Range OfficerThe main purpose of this post is to constantly account for offenders and to provide a safe, secure, and sanitized living area for offenders. Maintain the security of the housing unit to ensure the safety of staff and offenders.
Housing Unit Pod OfficerTo provide a safe, secure, and sanitized living area for offenders. To ensure offenders comply with all housing unit rules and regulations. Maintain the security of the housing unit to ensure the safety of staff and offenders at the Miami Correctional Facility.
Infirmary OfficerThis post provides custody supervision of offenders assigned, by medical staff, to the infirmary to recover from medical problems at the Miami Correctional Facility. This post also provides for the accountability of the offenders assigned.
Motor Patrol OfficerTo provide roving security for the perimeter of the Miami Correctional Facility and to prevent escapes.
ControlTo provide a secure entrance and exit to and from the security areas of the facility and assist with perimeter security through the security monitors located in the Control Room. To provide communication during emergencies, provide control over radio operations, and function as a point of contact for the distribution of telephone calls when the switchboard operator is unavailable. Provide contact with off-duty personnel during emergencies. Monitor the fire system. Point of contact for secure radio and key exchange.

Key ControlThe purpose of these post orders is to provide the security, safety, and sanitation of this area and to provide staff with accurate knowledge of radio usage, equipment issue and key issue.
