Facility History

The New Castle Correctional Facility was the first Indiana Department of Correction owned, privately managed correctional facility in the state. The contract was awarded September 28, 2005 to The GEO Group, Inc., with a commencement date of January 2, 2006. Since then, NCCF has grown to be one of the largest state owned, privately managed correctional facilities in the United States with a maximum capacity of nearly 3,200 adult male inmates. The GEO Group, Inc. works with partners Wexford Health, Aramark, Liberty Behavioral Health, Midwest Psychological Services, and Action Temporary Inc., to offer a vast array of services to the inmate population.
