Anderson-The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC), the Anderson Chapter of Indiana Black Expo, Inc. (IBE), and the City of Anderson’s Human Relations Department (AHRD) will host a public forum Tuesday, July 31st at the Anderson City Auditorium on 120 E. 8th Street in Anderson at 7:00 pm. The free event will focus on civil rights protections for all Hoosiers.

"It is important that we reach every corner of the state in our education and outreach efforts,” said Jamal L. Smith, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission. “We want to ensure that the community is aware of their rights and responsibilities under the Indiana Fair Housing Act.”

As part of the Anderson Chapter of IBE’s Annual Summer Festival will be a seminar titled “Know Your Rights” hosted by the ICRC and AHRD. The open forum will allow those in attendance to learn more about civil rights, discrimination and what to do if they are treated unfairly.

For more information about the Indiana Civil Rights Commission’s workshop in Anderson, or to register, call (317) 232-2651 or e-mail bmeadows@icrc.in.gov.
