Dolly M. Serrant, Director of the Indiana Commission on Hispanic/ Latino Affairs
Dolly M. Serrant is a Latina born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico who relocated to the state of Indiana at the age of 27 and is living in Indianapolis. She is currently serving as the Director of the Indiana Commission for Hispanic and Latino Affairs (ICHLA). With a background in Advertising, and a license in Public Relations (granted by the Department of State of Puerto Rico), Dolly has proven that she has the leadership and knowledge to effectively contribute to the needs of our Hispanic and Latino community. She has been in the communications industry since 2011 and is a member of the Puerto Rico Public Relations Professionals Association (ARPPR) since 2015. As a member, she volunteered in the Professional Development and Education Committee providing support in symposiums, educational material and workshop planning.
Her academic preparation includes a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Advertising and two master’s degrees; one in Communications, specializing in Public Relations, the other in Business Administration focused on International Business and Strategic Leadership. Such degrees were completed at the University of Puerto Rico and the University of Navarra. Dolly also has multiple Continuing Education Units (CEUs) including a thesis and an international investigation project regarding the virtual public relations practice in the museum industry.
Her commitment to extracurricular activities and her passion for helping others got her involved with some of Puerto Rico’s non-profit associations for the benefit of women and children. Dolly has demonstrated continuous interest in serving the community. Now, as part of the Civil Rights Commission, she is honored to serve and represent the Hispanic and Latinos in the state of Indiana.
