Lincoln Funeral Train Programs from the National Park Service

From our partners at the National Park Service:

The National Park Service invites the public to join us in commemorating the 150th anniversary of the funeral of Abraham Lincoln with programs that honor his legacy in each of the major cities that held a funeral for Lincoln in 1865, from Washington, DC to Springfield, Illinois. The programs in each community will focus on Lincoln’s vision for America as he expressed it during his life, a vision that moved the nation from civil war toward civil rights.

Each program will begin with a National Park Service Park Ranger who will not only serve to open the program, but whose own story stands as an example of Lincoln’s vision for America. The program will feature accomplished Lincoln actor, Fritz Klein, who will provide a presentation on Abraham Lincoln’s commitment to the idea that the United States was “conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

Two Indiana cities will host the program: Indianapolis and Michigan City.
