INDIANA INDUCED TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY REPORT
2010
Highlights
- There were 10,031 terminated pregnancies reported in Indiana
in 2010. For additional details, see Table
1a.
- Of the 10,031 women who had a pregnancy terminated (Indiana
occurrences):
- 9,553 (95.2%) were Indiana residents (Table
1b).
- 6,426 (64.1%) of the women were white; 3,029 (30.2%)
were black; 368 (3.7%) were of other races; and 208 (2.1%)
were of unknown race (Table 1a).
- 9,031 (90.0%) of the women were non-Hispanic
in origin, and 622 (6.2%) were of Hispanic origin.
Ethnicity was unknown for 378 (3.8%) of the women (Table
1a).
- 8,478 (84.5%) of the women who had a pregnancy
terminated were not married; 1,488 (14.8%) were married.
Marital status was unknown for 65 (0.6%) of the women (Table
1a).
- At the time of termination (Indiana occurrences -
Table 1a):
- Less than 1% (51) of the women were under the age
of 15;
- 4.5% (448) were 15-17 years of age;
- 10.2% (1,022) were 18-19 years of age;
- 33.5% (3,361) were 20-24 years of age;
- 24.3% (2,441) were 25-29 years of age;
- 14.9% (1,497) were 30-34 years of age;
- 8.9% (891) were 35-39 years of age;
- 3.0% (299) were 40 years of age or older; and
- Age was unknown for 0.2% (21).
- In 2010, 9,681 (96.5%) of the terminations were performed
in clinics; 350 (3.5%) were performed in hospitals (Indiana
occurrences). See Table
