QMA and QMA Insulin
Effective Monday, April 18, all QMA and QMA Insulin exams will be exclusively administered electronically at Ivy Tech Community College Testing Centers.
Applications and payments will be processed by the office and, upon validation, candidates will immediately receive an email with instructions on how to schedule an appointment at the Ivy Tech campus of their choice for QMA and QMA Insulin exams.
Facilities that already have testing dates on the schedule as of April 14 that include QMA or QMA Insulin exams will be administered at the facility unless requested by the facility to move those candidates to this model ahead of the facility testing date.
QMA and QMA Insulin individual retest requests will be processed and routed directly to the testing centers for scheduling.
The Aides Registry uses email to handle most communications, including sending renewal notices. Please ensure your email is current by logging into https://mylicense.in.gov.
The Qualified Medication Aide Certification Program ensures that individuals meet the requirements for a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) and are on the Indiana Aides Registry. This program is administered by the Indiana Department of Health, Division of Healthcare Education and Quality.
To be certified as a QMA an individual has to complete additional training and demonstrated competency while dispensing and passing medications and or applying/administrating treatments. In addition, a QMA must obtain six (6) hours of medication related inservice education each year. A QMA works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse and can perform only procedures that are defined within the QMA scope of practice.
