Shigellosis

Information

Shigellosis is an infection that causes diarrhea.  It is usually a mild illness, and most people recover completely in 4 - 7 days.  Symptoms may include diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.

The best method for preventing shigellosis is to wash your hands thoroughly at critical times, such as before preparing foods or after using the bathroom.  Ill individuals should stay home from work or school to avoid making others sick.
