Healthcare Associated Infections Resource Center
Welcome to the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Resource Center. This page provides information, tools, and resources about preventing and treating HAIs. The page also provides information about state quality improvement initiatives related to HAIs.
Patients can acquire HAIs while receiving medical care for other conditions within a healthcare setting. About one in 25 hospital patients has at least one healthcare associated infection on any given day. Surveillance, outbreak investigations, laboratory research, and prevention activities are vital in reducing HAIs.
