General Overview of the Council’s Purpose

The Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction facilitates the Mental Health and Addiction Planning and Advisory Council. The council includes state employees, behavioral health providers and individuals with lived experience or their families. MHAPAC was established under Indiana Code 12-21-4 and is required by SAMHSA for DMHA’s Mental Health Block Grant. MHAPAC meets regularly to provide multidisciplinary feedback on behavioral health activities and needs across the state. A key responsibility is the annual review of DMHA’s applications for the Mental Health Block Grant and the Substance Use Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Services Block Grant.

General Membership Overview

Membership is established through Indiana Code 12-21-4-3. The council consists of twenty-nine (29) members, not less than fifty percent (50%) of whom must be individuals who are not state employees or providers of mental health services. MHAPAC meetings are open to the public; however, individuals must receive formal membership approval before serving on the advisory board. Member information below.

General Meeting Information

MHAPAC meetings are held quarterly. Meetings are held in-person at the Indiana Government Center, Indianapolis, IN with a livestream option for public viewing.
