DOR offers several payment plan options for individual income tax customers who owe more than $100 and business tax customers who owe more than $500. Once a tax return has been processed with a balance due (verify balance via INTIME), a payment plan can be set up by signing up or logging in to INTIME.
Customers do NOT have to wait for DOR to send a bill and this can be done prior to a payment deadline. In fact, if payments are made prior to a due date, penalties and interest may be reduced on the balance due.
Begin the process from the “All Actions” tab where you will find the “Payment Plan” panel and click on “Add a payment plan.”
Once you decide to set up a payment plan, confirm it by selecting the box to proceed with requesting a payment arrangement and click “Next.”
This next screen will allow you to select the payment plan details: monthly or bi-weekly installment payments. Calculate the terms of the payment plan based on number of payments or payment amount. Making a down payment when setting up the payment plan is optional, but can reduce accrued interest. Note the payment dates in the blue text box. Follow the prompts and click “Next” to continue.
After selecting your payment option, a payment plan schedule agreement will be provided. Click “Next” to continue.
NOTE: Setting up a payment plan in INTIME does not exclude incurring penalties. Statutory late penalties apply to unpaid tax balances, which include payment plan installments.
This payment plan agreement includes an automatic recurring debit from a bank account. Enter your bank information to have the monthly installment amount automatically withdrawn on the due date each month. Click “Next” to continue.
This screen summarizes and confirms your payment plan schedule agreement including payment frequency, installment type, number of payments, down payment amount and when your first payment will be due. Review the terms and click “Submit” to continue.
This final screen shows that your request has been submitted and provides a confirmation number for your records. Click “OK” to return to the previous menu.
