Make Estimated Tax Payments Electronically

September 23, 2021

As you know, individuals make estimated tax payments on a quarterly basis to reduce the amount that will be due when filing an income tax return. But, were you aware that individual estimated payments may be submitted using INTIME, DOR’s online e-services portal? INTIME offers a quick, safe and secure way to submit payments at your convenience, 24/7.

Two options are available for making estimated payments electronically:

  • Create an INTIME logon (recommended)
  • Make a payment without logging in to INTIME

Creating an account in INTIME has many benefits, as noted in the graphic below:

INTIME Functions for Individual Tax Customers

To make a payment via INTIME:

  • Access INTIME at
  • In the top right corner, click on “New to INTIME? Sign up.”
  • Once logged-in, go to the “Summary” tab and locate the “Make a payment” hyperlink in the “Account” panel.
  • The option to make an estimated payment will appear in the “Payment type” drop-down.

Refer to the INTIME User Guide for Individual Income Tax Customers for more information.

To make an individual estimated tax payment electronically without logging in to INTIME:

  • Access INTIME at
  • Select the "Make a Payment" link under the “Payments” tile.
  • Follow the links to select “Payment type,” enter your information and make your payment.

You will receive a confirmation number immediately after paying electronically via INTIME. That means no waiting for mail to arrive or checks to clear, and no penalties because you’ll never miss your payment deadline again.

Accepted forms of payment via INTIME include bank payment (ACH/e-check), as well as Visa, MasterCard and Discover debit or credit cards. Processing fee(s) will be assessed for debit or credit card payments. There is no fee for bank (ACH/e-check) payments.

If you do not wish to pay electronically, you can still complete and mail the ES-40, Estimated Tax Payment form, along with your payment to DOR’s return address on the form. Or, you can pay in person with cash, but with the exact amount only. Other in-person options include paying with a money order, cashier’s check or a personal check made payable to DOR.

Don’t forget - individual tax payments are due on the 15th of the month in April, June, September and January. If the due date falls on a national or state holiday, Saturday or Sunday, payment postmarked by the day following that holiday or Sunday is considered on time.
