How to Make a Payment for Individual State Taxes

 

You filed your Indiana Individual income tax return and for the first time in a long time, you owe a balance. Check out these steps for making a payment:

The best option is to pay the entire amount due via INTIME, DOR’s new e-services portal at intime.dor.in.gov, prior to the April 18, 2022, tax deadline. You can do this securely without signing in or signing up for access to your INTIME account by selecting the “Make a Payment” link on the homepage.

Next, go to the “Non-bill payments” panel to pay taxes owed on a return and select the preferred payment method.

The “Non-bill payments” panel allows the option to pay via bank account (ACH/e-check) or credit/debit card. There is no fee for electronic bank payments, although credit and debit cards have applicable fees.

Click the “Bank payment (no fee)” link on the “Non-bill payments” panel.

NOTE: When choosing to use a credit/debit card as a method of payment, a series of similar prompts will walk you through the process. Credit/debit card transactions will be completed on the day of submission and cannot be scheduled for future dates.

Select the “Individual (I am here to make a payment for my personal income tax account)” payment type, then click “Next.”

TIP: When prompted to enter the payment type, select “Return Payment.” Taxes that are due by April 18, 2022, are for tax year 2021. Select “Filing period end date” of Dec. 31, 2021.

Enter your bank account payment information, then click “Next.”

After submitting your request, you will receive a confirmation message. You may go back to edit your submission before it is processed. Do NOT submit your request more than once.

We recommend selecting “Printable view” to either print or save a copy of the confirmation for your records.

If you’re unsure about whether or not your payment was received or if you didn’t receive a confirmation, you can search for an existing submission by returning to the “Payments” panel and selecting the “Manage scheduled payments” hyperlink.

This will open the “Find a Submission” page where you will enter your email and confirmation code to search for an existing payment submission.

FINAL TIP: Make sure your internet browser is up to date before using INTIME. Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are recommended.
