Directions to Motor Carrier Services

Effective May 20, 2020, motor carrier customers can begin scheduling appointments for the MCS customer walk-in center for service starting May 26. Service is available by appointment only.

Registration Reminder: Indiana DOR issued IRP and BPR annual registrations expired on March 31, 2020, or April 30, 2020, were extended until May 31, 2020. Any delayed registrations and/or payments must have an effective renewed registration submitted by June 1, 2020.

Fuel Tax Reminder: Quarterly motor carrier fuel tax returns for the first quarter that were normally due April 30, 2020, are due May 31, 2020.

How to Schedule an Appointment

In-person service will be limited to transactions that cannot be efficiently performed via telephone or online:

•    Payments for transactions that could not be made over the telephone or online; and
•    Picking up plates and decals that cannot otherwise be mailed.

Make your appointment online or by calling 317-615-7200, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST. 

Most transactions can be done online.

Service kiosks located within the MCS customer service center will be unavailable.

Customers who arrive at Motor Carrier Services without an appointment or who need additional assistance may be asked to make an appointment for another day. Same-day appointments may not be available due to the complexity of MCS transactions.

Appointments for service providers are limited to one account per day.

What to Expect

Prior to your appointment, a customer service representative will contact you to facilitate your transaction and complete as much as possible by telephone and email so you do not need to visit the service center. Whenever possible, items such as decals, stickers and plates will be mailed to the customer.

When customers arrive for their scheduled appointment, they will be instructed to call the customer service phone number posted on the MCS entrance door or within their appointment confirmation, to let the MCS team know they have arrived. Appointments are limited to one person or one account per scheduled appointment.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available to both employees and customers.
  • Customers and employees are highly encouraged to wear masks throughout the appointment.
  • Customer areas will be fully sanitized in between each in-person appointment.  
  • Appointments are limited to one person per scheduled appointment. 
  • Self-service kiosks will be unavailable.

From the West (via I-70)

  • Take I-70 west to Ronald Reagan Parkway/Ameriplex Blvd. exit.
  • Take Ameriplex Blvd. south.
  • Turn left onto Decatur Blvd.
  • Turn Right (first street on right) onto Milhouse Rd.
  • The MCSD office will be on the right side of the street.

From the South (via I-65):

  • Take I-465 West to Kentucky Avenue/State Road 67 exit.
  • Take Kentucky Avenue south.
  • Turn right onto Ameriplex Blvd.
  • At stop light turn right onto Decatur blvd
  • Take first right onto Milhouse Rd.
  • The MCSD office will be on right side of the street.

From the East (via I-70 or I-74):

  • Take I-465 South then West to Kentucky Avenue/State Road 67 exit.
  • Take Kentucky Avenue south.
  • Turn right into the Ameriplex Blvd.
  • Turn right at stoplight onto Decatur Blvd.
  • Take first right onto Milhouse Rd.
  • The MCSD office will be on right side of the street.

From the North (via I-465)

  • Take I-465 South to Kentucky Avenue/State Road 67 exit.
  • Take Kentucky Avenue south.
  • Turn right onto Ameriplex Blvd.
  • Turn right at the first stoplight onto Decatur Blvd.
  • Take first right onto Milhouse Rd.
  • The MCS office will be on right side of the street.
